“Welcome, Mudbugs, to our 10K Race,” says Nicole McHale, FISH 10K Committee. “We are excited to have your support this year as a first time sponsor, and appreciate all that you do for our community.” The 10K Race 4 F.I.S.H., an annual road race event, is scheduled for Sat., Oct. 22, 2022, will begin and end at the Sanibel Community House as an in-person race. A virtual option is also offered where runners can participate through end of day Oct. 22. To register, visit ftmyerstrackclub.com.
MudBugs Cajun Kitchen, serving traditional island fare with a Cajun twist, is open for lunch and dinner. With two full bars located upstairs and downstairs, live music, and a fun, laid back atmosphere, it’s as if diners are visiting Bourbon Street at the Beach! Bringing the flavors of the bayou to Sanibel, the restaurant serves po’boys, fish and shrimp platters, crawfish crab cakes, and more New Orleans style bites. The interior of the building is an airy, two-story dining room lined with exposed bricks and wrought iron balconies that are reminiscent of those on Burbon Street. “FISH helps so many on our islands, from residents to workers to visitors,” says MudBugs owner Ron Rich. “It’s a pleasure to give back to an organization that gives so much to our community.”
Businesses and individuals may sign up to sponsor the 10K Race, an annual fundraising event for FISH, to support the ‘neighbors helping neighbors’ organization. Returning this year is the 10K Expo, an opportunity for businesses and nonprofits to share their passion for community before and after the race and the Kids Run, a fun way for children aged 10 and under to participate. For additional information on the race or if you are interested sponsoring or participating in the Expo, please contact Nicole McHale at noel2me@icloud.com or Diane Cortese at Dianerc10@gmail.com, Race Committee Chairs.
FISH has been assisting islanders since 1982 as a ‘neighbors helping neighbors’ organization with food programs, financial assistance with rent or medical bills, senior programs, children’s programs and more.
