Macaroni KID, a CertifiKID publication, is widely recognized as one of the best deal websites for families. In 2019, CertifiKID appeared on Shark Tank, securing a $600K investment from Kevin O’Leary (aka “Mr. Wonderful”), catapulting it to expand its operations to offer its family-friendly deals to parents nationwide.
Samantha Zamfir, Publisher & Editor of Macaroni KID Cape Coral-Sanibel-Captiva, recognized the 2023 FISH 10K/5K race as an incredible opportunity to build awareness for FISH OF SANCAP and has signed on as a sponsor for the event. “I joined Macaroni KID to bring awareness to our community. I am the publisher for the Cape Coral, Sanibel and Captiva area and my ultimate goal is to be the ‘go to website’ for families to find out about events happening in the area,” says Zamfir.
Zamfir has lived in Cape Coral for about 25 years and visits Sanibel frequently with her children. She hopes to bring additional awareness to the race and to FISH by helping to get the word out at local events and Farmer’s Markets throughout the county and through her subscriber network.
The FISH 10K/5K race, scheduled for Dec. 2, 2023, will begin and end at the Sanibel Community House as an in-person race with a virtual option. Start time for the 10K is 7:30am, with the 5K following at 7:45am. A family fun day, including a kid’s ‘Reindeer Run’, is planned at the Sanibel Recreation Center immediately following the race award ceremony.
“My grandparents always taught me to help others and to treat others how you would like to be treated, and that is why I support FISH,” continues Zamfir. “We have always enjoyed supporting organizations that help the community, and that is exactly what FISH does. What I love most about FISH is that it’s not just a food bank. They help with education, social services, and can assist with other great resources including disaster recovery! Families have a hard enough time surviving, but when you throw natural disasters like Hurricane Ian into the mix, it makes surviving impossible. FISH is here to help!”
Runner registration is currently open on Run Sign-Up with a tiered pricing structure. FISH reports 100 individuals have already registered for the December event, and their goal is to exceed 500 registrations.
“Our islands have been through a lot since Ian, and FISH has been here assisting resident and workforce survivors since landfall,” says Leah Winkler, race committee co-chair. “Our hope is to celebrate our islands during our race event while raising funds to sustain FISH programs. Thank you Samantha and Macaroni KID for supporting us!”
Support for the race is critical as FISH continues to serve the residents and workforce of the islands. “I am very passionate about helping organizations like FISH. Neighbors really should be helping neighbors, especially in times like today,” notes Zamfir
