FISH of SANCAP’s Back-to-School Supplies Distribution Brings Hope and Support to Over 250 Students

FISH of SANCAP (FISH) is thrilled to announce the overwhelming success of this year’s Back-to-School Supplies Distribution, which provided essential school items to over 250 students with a Sanibel and Captiva connection through residency or employment. This achievement would not have been possible without the incredible generosity and support of their community partners, donors, and volunteers.

The start of a new school year can be a stressful time for many families, particularly those facing financial hardships. The rising cost of school supplies can add to this burden, making it difficult for some parents to provide their children with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom. FISH understands that education is a cornerstone for a brighter future, and believes that every child deserves to start the school year with confidence.

“Providing students with the right school supplies is more than just equipping them for class; it’s about giving them the confidence and peace of mind to focus on learning without worry,” shares Maria Espinoza, FISH Executive Director. “Our team at FISH is deeply moved by the gratitude we’ve received, and we’re thrilled to be a part of these students’ journeys. We wish each and every one of them a successful and joyful 2024-2025 school year. The heartfelt notes we’ve received from families are a testament to the impact of this support.”

This year’s distribution would not have been possible without the heartfelt contributions from community partners. FISH extends their deepest thanks to Bank of the Islands, Saint Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church, Sanibel & Captiva Islands Association of Realtors, Sanibel Captiva Lions Club, Sanibel Public Library, and the countless FISH volunteers who dedicated their time and resources to this effort.

One parent shared, “The school supplies made such a difference for my children. It’s one less thing I have to worry about, and it means so much to know that our community cares.” Another family shared, ” We have really struggled since the hurricane. Our boys lost their mother, and we really needed the extra help this year. Thanks so much for all your help, it will make a huge difference for our boys.”

FISH remains committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of circumstances. FISH notes that this program reflects on the power of community support and the difference it can make in the lives of Lee County students.

“Thank you to everyone who played a part in this important initiative. Together, we are not just preparing students for school, but we are also investing in their future and the future of our community,” adds Espinoza.
