FISH OF SANCAP Invites Community to Join the 17th Annual JOG N JAM Weekend Celebration

FISH OF SANCAP (FISH) invites all to their December JOG N JAM event, a fun-filled day of fitness, music, and community celebration, taking place on Sat., Dec. 7th.

This year, the event is held in cooperation with the Lee County Tourist Development Council and will also help celebrate the City of Sanibel’s 50th anniversary. The 2024 JOG N JAM promises to be bigger and better than ever, featuring a 10K and 5K race, a kids’ run, and a concert on the beach with fireworks. The JOG N JAM is in support of FISH’s vital programs and services.

Runners and concertgoers are encouraged to make the most of the JOG N JAM event by staying on the beautiful islands of Sanibel and Captiva for the weekend or even longer! FISH has partnered with on and off island hotels to offer discounted rates for event participants and their families. The Weekend Lineup:

• Friday, December 6th: Join FISH at the Sanibel Luminary, a festive evening to kick off the holidays, where FISH will have a special presence to engage with the community and collect holiday items for their Adopt-a-Family and Adopt-a-Senior programs.
• Saturday, December 7th: Lace up your running shoes and get ready for the JOG N JAM Race! This family-friendly event will Sanibel’s only road race and a special kids’ race for ages 10 and under, making it a perfect opportunity for runners of all ages to participate. After the race, stick around for the beachside concert featuring the energetic band Funk You, known for their lively cover songs and top hits that will have everyone dancing in the sand. Held at ‘Tween Waters on Captiva beginning at 5:30pm, transportation to the concert is included in the concert ticket price. Be sure to check the FISH website and social media channels as the organization finalizes bus pick-up points.
• Sunday, December 8th: Wrap up the weekend at the Farmers Market, where FISH will also have a table to meet with community members, share information, and continue celebrating the spirit of the islands.

This exciting weekend is not only a chance to join in the fun, celebrate the beautiful islands of Sanibel and Captiva, and enjoy some great music—it’s also an opportunity to support a good cause. All proceeds from JOG N JAM will benefit FISH’s programs and services, which include their four core pillars: Food Programs, Island-Based Education, Social and Senior Services, and Helping Hands, as well as their ongoing long-term recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Ian.

“JOG N JAM is quickly becoming a favorite island event,” said Maria Espinoza, Executive Director of FISH. Last year the organization added the concert to their annual road race event to offer a unique experience for participants and in hopes of drawing a larger crowd from all areas to celebrate the islands. Marketing support in the form of a grant from the Lee County Tourist Development Council will aid in featuring the event across the nation through digital marketing and advertising.
