Doc Ford’s Supports Community by Sponsoring FISH 10K Race

Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille has been serving guests for over 15 years on Sanibel Island – a community which it supports in many ways. They return as a Silver Sponsor of the 14th annual 10K Race 4 F.I.S.H. that raises funds for the island’s only wrap around social service agency.

The popular eatery is named for the hero of noted Sanibel author Randy Wayne White’s novels, adventurous scientist Doc Ford. Diners will be delighted by the flavorful dishes inspired by the author’s travels to such places as Cuba, Cambodia and South Africa, as well as South and Central America. Doc Ford’s has 4 locations on Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, Fort Myers Beach, and the new St. Pete Pier! Just as White’s novels were inspired by the places he visited, the spirit of the rum bars are inspired by the main character in those novels.

“We are proud to have Doc Ford’s support our race and our mission, one that helps not only our local families, but those working on and visiting the islands,” said Nicole McHale, FISH 10K Committee. The race event, set for Sat., Oct. 22, 2022, will begin and end at the Sanibel Community House as an in-person race.  A virtual option is also offered where runners can participate through end of day Oct. 22. Businesses and individuals may sign up to sponsor the 10K Race, an annual fundraising event for FISH, to support the ‘neighbors helping neighbors’ organization. Returning this year is the 10K Expo, an opportunity for businesses and nonprofits to share their passion for community before and after the race and the Kids Run, a fun way for children aged 10 and under to participate.  For additional information on the race or if you are interested sponsoring or participating in the Expo, please contact Nicole McHale at noel2me@icloud.com or Diane Cortese at Dianerc10@gmail.com, Race Committee Chairs.
