Local Businesses Join FISH to Help Families Celebrate Easter

Easter is around the corner, and FISH of SanCap is once again preparing to bring a little extra joy to local families. This year, A Little Adventure, AIP Outfitters, Bank of the Islands, Jerry’s Foods, SanCap Pak-N-Ship, Toys Ahoy and the FISH Walk-in Center are serving as official drop-off locations, making it easy for the community to take part in the drive.

FISH’s annual Easter Bunny Basket and Holiday Meal Drive is now underway. Between now and March 27, the organization is collecting new, unwrapped gifts for children ages 0–18, along with items to help families prepare a traditional Easter meal.

Suggested basket items include small toys, candy, coloring books, crayons, keychains, hair accessories, art supplies, and other fun surprises. For holiday meals, FISH welcomes canned or fresh vegetables, side dishes, rolls, and other Easter favorites that help families gather around the table together.

For many households still recovering from past hurricanes and the fewer seasonal visitors, the financial strain hasn’t gone away. Between rising costs and ongoing home repairs, even a holiday meal can feel out of reach. Programs like this one help ease that pressure and allow families to celebrate without added worry.

One local mom shared, “I didn’t know how I was going to pull off Easter this year. I’m so grateful that FISH is continuing the holiday program. We participated last year, and when I surprised my kids with the meal and the bunny baskets, they were smiling from ear to ear. It meant more than I can explain. We were able to sit down together and just enjoy the day.”

This year, FISH hopes to serve between 300-350 households with Easter baskets and meals.

Maria Espinoza, Executive Director of FISH, shared, “This is what neighbors helping neighbors looks like. Our local partners and donors step up every year so families can enjoy a simple, special holiday together. We’re so thankful for the way this community shows up.”

Merari Puente added, “For many of the families we serve, this takes a real weight off their shoulders. It gives parents one less thing to worry about and lets them focus on simply being together and enjoying the holiday.”
