The countdown is on for one of the islands’ most anticipated community events, and FISH of SanCap is encouraging runners, walkers, families, businesses, and community groups to register now for the JOG N JAM 10K, 5K, and Kids Fun Run on Saturday, November 7 before race registration pricing increases take effect at the end of August.
Several teams have already signed up, including Billy’s Bikes & Rentals, Catching Coastal Realty, FISH of SanCap, Henderson Franklin Run Club, Sanibel Community Church, Sundial Beach Resort & Spa, and Vietnam Veterans. More are expected as race day approaches.
“One of my favorite parts of JOG N JAM is watching people encourage one another,” said Leah Winkler, FISH Board Member and JOG N JAM Committee Chair. “Whether you’re running for a personal best, walking with coworkers, or cheering on friends, there’s a place for everyone. Form a team, join an existing one, and spend the morning making a difference in our community.”
Teams should register during the race entry process. Team registration closes at noon (ET) on Friday, November 6, and no teams or additions can be accepted after that deadline. Team captains are encouraged to recruit at least six participants, although the top five finishers will count toward the team score.
Participants who have already registered and would like to create or join a team should contact Mark Toretsky of Lin-Mark Sports, the official race timer and registrar, at linmarksports@linmarksports.com. Please include your name and the team you wish to join or create.
Teams may have unlimited participants, with the five fastest chip times combined to determine the winning team in each race.
Starting and ending at the Sanibel Community House, the race welcomes runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. Participants can choose between the 10K and 5K courses, with the always popular Kids Fun Run immediately following the awards ceremony.
This year’s event will feature activities before the starting horn and during the awards ceremony. Families are encouraged to stick around and cheer on the youngest runners during the always popular Kids Fun Run.
Proceeds from JOG N JAM help support FISH programs and services that strengthen the Sanibel and Captiva communities throughout the year, including food programs, senior services, youth programs, emergency financial assistance, disaster recovery, and case management.
“Every person who registers becomes part of something bigger,” Winkler said. “You’re spending a great morning with friends and family, but you’re also helping FISH provide essential programs that support our neighbors every day.”
Registration is now open through RunSignUp — https://runsignup.com/Race/FL/Sanibel/10K5KRace4FISH — and participants are encouraged to sign up before August 31 to lock in current pricing before the next registration tier begins.
Businesses, organizations, neighborhoods, and groups of friends are encouraged to form a team and join the friendly competition.
Volunteers are also needed to help make race day a success. Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to contact MJ Hays, FISH Office & Volunteer Manager, at mj@fishofsancap.org.
Businesses interested in event sponsorship opportunities, or anyone with questions about the race or the full JOG N JAM event, is encouraged to contact FISH.
The JOG N JAM celebration continues with a live concert featuring The Ben Allen Band and fireworks on Saturday, December 5, at ‘Tween Waters Island Resort & Spa on Captiva. Tickets are available now at https://jamwithfish2026.rsvpify.com/
