The AngelFISH Society will gather on Monday, Nov. 9, at Sundial Beach Resort & Spa, 1451 Middle Gulf Drive, Sanibel, for its annual luncheon. The event begins at 11:00am. Luncheon attendance and reservation details are available at https://angelfishluncheon.rsvpify.com/. Please RSVP by October 31, 2026.
The luncheon will bring members and guests together to hear about the Society’s work over the past year and learn which community project it will support in 2027. The luncheon will also feature special guest Kelly Thawley, Micro-Credential & Workforce Programs Coordinator at Florida Gulf Coast University, who will share insight into workforce development, education and opportunities that connect directly with the focus of the proposed 2027 project.
Kelly plays a key part in launching, overseeing, and improving micro-credential and workforce programs, coordinating cohort and employer-sponsored activities, and providing resources for workforce development initiatives. She is dedicated to helping SWFL learners discover their passions, providing training and education opportunities, collaborating with local partners, and ultimately connecting skilled learners to the SWFL workforce for the benefit of our community. Kelly serves on the Board of Directors for The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trustees for the Chamber Foundation, and she is a proud FutureMaker.
She is also deeply committed to uplifting, inspiring, and educating women to fulfill their true potential, by serving as the Chair for the Chamber’s annual Level HER Up Conference, which has raised over $80,000 for non-traditional student scholarships. Kelly graduated summa cum laude from Muskingum University, Ohio, with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a minor in Psychology. She was awarded the Chamber’s Young Professional of the Year Award in 2024, a recipient of Gulfshore Business’ 40 Under 40 in 2022, and a member of SWFL Inc.’s Leadership Class of 2020.
AngelFISH is a group of women who support FISH of SanCap and learn about the needs of the people it serves. Each member’s contribution is divided equally between the FISH Foundation’s endowment and a project selected by the Society.
The 2026 project, AngelFISH Kitchen, brought air fryers to selected older adults and families. Participants also took part in cooking classes, where they learned ways to use the appliances at home. The conversations continued after the classes, with participants sharing recipes and telling FISH what they had made. AngelFISH recently donated an air fryer to The Sanibel School so Home Economics students could use one in the classroom.
“AngelFISH Kitchen gave people something they could use right away, and we loved hearing how they made it their own,” said Linda Uhler, AngelFISH Committee Chair. “The luncheon is a chance to share what happened with that project and introduce the next one to the women who will help make it possible.”
More than 60 women are connected to AngelFISH. Through its annual projects, the Society supports FISH’s work with residents and members of the island workforce while giving members a closer look at needs in the community.
