Neighbors, friends, and community members are invited to gather for the next FISH of SanCap Friendly Faces Luncheon on Tues., Feb. 10, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The luncheon will be held at the Sanibel Community House, located at 2173 Periwinkle Way.
February’s guest speaker will be Brad MacKenzie, a local beekeeper and the owner of Sanibel Honey. MacKenzie moved to Sanibel several years ago and began his beekeeping journey shortly after, growing his operation to dozens of hives located throughout the island, many in homeowners’ yards.
During the luncheon, MacKenzie will share the story of Sanibel Honey and discuss the important role bees play in Sanibel’s ecology and community. His talk will touch on the life cycle of the honey bee, the role of managed bees in the U.S., and how Sanibel’s natural environment—and its recovery following hurricanes—creates a unique setting for beekeeping.
“Friendly Faces is really about creating space for connection and learning,” said Erika Arnowitz, Senior Services Director, who organizes the luncheon program for FISH. “Brad’s story is a great example of how people and nature are connected here on Sanibel, and we’re excited to welcome him and our neighbors for another lunch and learn event.”
Lunch will be provided at no cost to guests, thanks to the generous support of Chuck Bergstrom REALTOR with RE/MAX Realty Group, sponsor of the February Friendly Faces Luncheon.
Time for conversation and community connection is always part of the program.
Reservations are required so meals can be planned accordingly. RSVPs must be received by Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, via https://friendlyfacesfebruary.rsvpify.com . Guests may also reach out to Erika Arnowitz via email, erika@fishofsancap.org, to reserve their spot.
Friendly Faces Luncheons are open to community members of all ages and are held monthly, offering a wonderful opportunity to share a meal, meet neighbors, and stay connected.
