FISH OF SANCAP is deeply grateful to the San Cap Pink Project for their generous $3,000 donation, which will directly assist local community members facing cancer-related challenges. This heartfelt gift will help individuals struggling with medical and other essential expenses during their cancer journey.
This donation is even more meaningful because it was inspired by a previous recipient of the San Cap Pink Project’s support, who asked that the funds be “paid forward” so others in need could receive assistance. In response, the San Cap Pink Project turned to FISH, ensuring that these funds will continue to make an impact by helping others in the community who are facing cancer-related hardships.
“We’re truly grateful for this generous donation and the chance to continue the ‘pay it forward’ spirit,” says Maria Espinoza, Executive Director of FISH. “Cancer is tough enough without the added stress of financial worries. Thanks to the San Cap Pink Project, we can step in and help—whether it’s covering medical bills, transportation to treatments, or other essential needs. This gift will make a real difference for those in our community who need it most.”
Founded by Mary Bondurant, a breast cancer survivor herself, the San Cap Pink Project, Inc., also known as Let’s Pink Out Sanibel & Captiva Islands, started in 2012 as a small initiative to provide free mammograms to uninsured island residents. Over the years, it has grown into a multifaceted organization, raising significant funds to support both uninsured and underinsured individuals.
What began as a mission focused on breast cancer screenings has expanded to address a wide range of cancer-related needs, bringing hope, awareness, and support to those affected by cancer in our community. Mary’s personal journey has fueled her passion for giving back, and through the San Cap Pink Project, she continues to make an impact on the lives of many.
FISH extends its heartfelt thanks to Mary and the entire San Cap Pink Project team for their generosity and unwavering commitment to helping those in need.
