FISH OF SANCAP Honored as Best Nonprofit in Best of the Islands 2025

FISH OF SANCAP is proud to announce they have been named Best Nonprofit in the 2025 Best of the Islands awards. Winners were celebrated at a luncheon held on September 9, bringing together local organizations, businesses, and community leaders.

The recognition comes after a two-week voting period where residents and visitors cast ballots both online and by paper. Organized by the Island Reporter, Best of the Islands highlights the people, businesses, and organizations that make island life so special.

“Being named Best Nonprofit is such an honor,” said Maria Espinoza, Executive Director of FISH. “This award is a reflection of our community’s trust in us and of the dedication of our volunteers, staff, and supporters. We are so proud to stand beside our neighbors each day—whether that means helping residents through a tough time or supporting the workforce that keeps our islands running. We share this recognition with everyone who believes in our mission.”

FISH continues to serve island residents and workforce families with food programs, financial assistance, senior services, educational opportunities, and long-term disaster recovery efforts. The organization has been a steady presence on Sanibel and Captiva for over four decades, committed to meeting needs and strengthening the community.
