Sweet Holiday Fun: FISH of SanCap Invites Kids to Gingerbread House Workshop

FISH of SanCap, in partnership with Saint Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church, is inviting children ages 18 and under to join in some festive fun at a free Gingerbread House Workshop on Tuesday, December 3, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Saint Michael’s Parish Hall, 2304 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.

The afternoon promises candy, creativity, and plenty of laughter as kids decorate their own gingerbread houses with gumdrops, peppermints, and sweets of every kind. Supplies and snacks will be provided, making this a cheery celebration for island youth during the holiday season.

This is the first year FISH is offering the Gingerbread House Workshop, and the team is excited to bring this cheerful, hands-on activity to local children.

“We wanted to create something special for kids to enjoy during the holidays,” said Merari Salinas, FISH’s Food Programs Manager. “Watching them laugh, get creative, and make something all their own will be so much fun! It’s a reminder that the holidays are really about being together and feeling that sense of community.”

The Gingerbread House Workshop is part of FISH’s ongoing commitment to supporting island youth “in blue skies and gray,” offering opportunities for connection, learning, and joy throughout the year. From weekend backpack meals to after-school programs and seasonal activities, FISH ensures that every child has the chance to thrive — no matter the circumstances.

Families are encouraged to register by November 21 to reserve a spot. Space is limited and fills quickly. To sign up, email Merari at merari@fishofsancap.org.
